MEN'S TENNIS + TYVEK

Friday night, I just landed at JFK from SFO at 10pm and I gotta get to cake shop.. Not too much time before my friends' Men's Tennis play the first show in years, possibly decades.. So I jump in the taxi and call Nadia to tell her to bring my camera..

Fun show, and Tyvek is playing after them.. They're in from detroit.. If you haven't seen them, you really should..

Oh the ORB - ProxySelector and getting RMI-IIOP to use it.

I wanted to kill myself.. I really did.. Mohammad and I had spent a month trying to get our EJB client to use a socks proxy in Java 5. Ok, not a full month, but off and on.. And for a good part of that time we were trying to forget about RMI-IIOP altogether and just use an Axis2 client instead. That sucked too.

What's with all these things not wanting to use proxies? We tried socksProxyHost, http.proxyHost and all the related properties. We went all 2005 and tried a ProxySelector in Java 5.

But nothing.. It was like RMI-IIOP just ignored all the standard ways to go through a socks proxy.

WTF.

I am not going to bore you with all the things that didn't work, because there are always things that don't work.

What finally did work was telling ORB to use a Socket. Apparently, it doesn't.

Regardless.. do this and be happy:

System.setProperty("com.sun.CORBA.transport.ORBConnectionSocketType", "Socket");

Here's where I found it.

Oh, just so maybe google picks this up and indexes it, here's our initial context factory: com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtxFactory. Yeah.. the standard one that comes with the JVM..

New version of TumbleTunes...

I added the ability to pause posting... So no one knows that you are listening to Justin Timberlake over and over and over.. I mean, I do it.. But some people just don't understand..

Also added a feature to randomly post.. Because sometimes every song is just too much information.. You can now set it to Always, Sometimes or Rarely..

And album changes are pretty boring if you ask me.. I might remove that feature.. Is that stupid?

Oh, let me know if you use it, I wanna subscribe to your tumblr so I can get ideas for new music.. Ok fine, I just wanna know if anybody is downloading it..
